A Rockland County bicyclist was hospitalized after an SUV struck him on a Mahwah road a mile or so from the state line. The 40-something victim was "lucid and responsive at the scene" following the crash on Island Road at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, Mahwah Police Chief Timothy O'Hara said. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with multiple injuries, the chief said. Motorcyclist Killed In Route 1 Crash, 2nd Fatal In Same Day In South Brunswick
Two people were killed in separate crashes in South Brunswick including a motorist from South River and a motorcyclist from Pennsylvania, authorities said. At 5:56 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, officers were alerted to a single-car crash on Route 535. The preliminary investigation shows a Nissan Maxima, operated by a 65-year-old man from South River, left the roadway and struck a utility pole. A 27-year-old Orange man was seriously injured after a vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer on Route 78 on the morning of Friday, April 5, authorities said. At 5:13 a.m. on Route 78 west in Newark, a Chevrolet passenger vehicle was stopped in the right lane due to a previous crash when it was truck by a Freightliner truck, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The passenger of the Chevrolet was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

A tractor-trailer overturned blocking all lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said. Overturned Tractor Trailer On Route 287 Causes Other Crashes: State Police
An overturned truck caused numerous crashes on Route 287 on Wednesday, March 6, state police said. At 8:05 p.m., troopers responded to Route 287 north in Morristown Township, Troy McNair, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police, said. The driver of the truck lost control and overturned, causing logs to fall off his trailer into the southbound lanes, McNair said. Multiple car crashes occurred as a result and lanes were blocked on the northbound and southbound side, McNair said. Minor injuries were reported, McNair said.
