IDA: 7 Tornados Confirmed In NJ, PA The National Weather Service has confirmed seven tornados touched down in New Jersey and Pennsylvania Wednesday night in the remnants of Hurricane Ida. The NWS is still working on completing its surveys of the heavily-damaged areas. As of Thursday, 23 people had died due to the storm in New Jersey, Gov. Phil Murphy said. 8th Tornado Across NJ, PA Confirmed In Lehigh County The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Lehigh County during Thursday's storm -- making that the eighth across New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. Winds up to 70 mph came with the EF-0 storm that tore through a 100-yard path across Montgomeryville in approximately one minute's time. The half-a-mile wide twister touched down just east of Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) near the onramp to the 202 Parkway at 3:47 p.m., the NWS said. 21 Vehicles Destroyed In North Jersey Fire Live wires temporarily kept firefighters from dousing flames that destroyed 21 vehicles on a lot off Broad Avenue in Ridgefield. A wire downed in Thursday night's storm ignited two vehicles in the depot, filled with hundreds of new vehicles, next to Metro Fuel on Hudson Avenue near H Mart, authorities said. Firefighters found two vehicles fully involved with live wires arcing over them, blocking initial suppression efforts. More Than 25,000 North Jersey Residents Without Power After Storm Thousands of Sussex County residents woke up without power Tuesday following the start-of-the-month snow storm. Widespread outages from the storm left approximately 24,000 Sussex County residents and 4,800 Warren County residents in the dark Tuesday morning, JCP&L's website said. JCP&L estimates that power to the nearly 25,000 customers will be restored by 11:30 p.m. More than 150 roads were impassable due to ice and tree damage, hampering restoration efforts, the company said.
