JCP&L Will Trim Trees Along 3,400 Miles Of Power Lines To Reduce Outages
Jersey Central Power & Light is planning to trim trees to protect more than 3,400 miles of power lines across the Garden State, officials said. JCP&L will clear trees as part of a $32.5 million plan to prevent power outages during severe weather, the company said in a news release on Wednesday, Apr. 10. It's the first part of an annual $1.5 million increase in tree-trimming costs as part of a settlement with the state Board of Public Utilities. We're not out of the earthquake woods just yet. A 2.6 aftershock was recorded in Somerset County on Wednesday, April 10, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was recorded 5 km southwest of Gladstone, with more than 430 people telling the USGS they could feel something shaking. A Somerset County nursing home under construction was ravaged by a multi-alarm fire Friday night, March 1, firefighters said. More than 100 firefighters were called to Complete Care at Willow Creek on Easton Avenue in Franklin Township around 8:15 p.m., where smoke was emitting from the back of the property, sources and local police said.
