Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Two Cars On Route 1&9: Prosecutor
A pedestrian was struck and killed by two cars on Routes 1&9 in Jersey City Monday, May 2, authorities said. The unidentified pedestrian was crossing the roadway when he was struck by an SUV that traveling north around 9:50 p.m., the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene, and then the victim was struck by a second vehicle, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. One person died and two people were injured in a Jersey City crash on Thursday, Feb. 10, authorities said. The crash occurred on the Shawn Carson and Robert Nguyen Memorial Bridge around 11 a.m. Motorists were urged to avoid the area of Routes 1&9, 440, and Communipaw Ave. More to follow. Wrong-Way Driver Causes Serious Crash On Routes 1&9, Police Say
One person was listed in critical condition following a head-on crash on Routes 1&9 in Newark Saturday, authorities said. A driver heading southbound in the northbound lane struck an oncoming vehicle at the intersection with Route 21 around 1:20 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. Police remained on scene as of 3:20 p.m. No further information was available.

A Cranford man was being held in the Union County Jail in connection with Sunday's double shooting on Routes 1&9, authorities said Monday. Andrew C. Johnson, 50, was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder and four related weapons offenses, acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo and Linden Police Chief David Hart said jointly. Motorcyclist Killed In Jersey City Crash
A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a car carrier Wednesday in Jersey City, authorities said. The unidentified rider crashed into the carrier on the northbound side of Routes 1&9 near North Street just after 10:15 p.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 10:35 p.m. No summonses had been issued as of Thursday morning.
