One Dead, One Injured In Union Township 2-Alarm Fire: FD A woman was killed in a two-alarm house fire in Union Township on Wednesday, Feb. 14, authorities said. At 5:29 p.m., firefighters responded to 1120 Weber St. for a house fire, Union Township Fire Chief Greg Ricciardi said. While responding, firefighters were alerted to an elderly woman trapped inside the residence, Ricciardi said. Another occupant managed to escape and was on the front lawn, Ricciardi said. Union Police Officers Save Baby Who’d Stopped Breathing Two police officers in Union rushed into action to perform CPR on a nine-month-old, saving the infant’s life, Capt. Scott Breslow said in a statement. Officers Stephen Viaud and Gaetano D’Allesandro arrived at the Bertha Avenue home within two minutes after the 9-1-1 call in around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. Family members were waiting outside with the infant, who was “non-responsive,” Breslow said. Landscaper In Union Killed In Work Accident A landscaper who was laying mulch at a worksite in Union was killed Friday morning when a co-worker accidentally ran over him with a truck.  The accident occurred in the parking lot of Costco, 1055 Hudson St., at 10:16 a.m. when a worker in a pickup struck the victim, police said. The victim, whose name was withheld pending notification of family, was pronounced dead at Overlook Hospital.  The accident is under investigation by Officer Micael Cocca of the Union Police Department.
