Firefighters Battle Montclair House Fire Firefighters worked to douse house fire Tuesday morning in Montclair. Flames were shooting out of the second floor of 10 Mountain Terr., when crews arrived around 11:15 a.m. Firefighters from Montclair and Bloomfield stretched lines to extinguish the blazed on the second and third floors of the home. The blaze was under control at approximately 12:25 p.m. The fire was under investigation as of Tuesday afternoon.

Irvington Fire Guts Convenience Store, Displaces Families At least 17 people were displaced by a fire that destroyed a convenience store and several upstairs apartments Sunday night in Irvington. Flames shot out and smoke was billowed from the building at Myrtle and Madison avenue as firefighters from several towns arrived around 11:05 p.m. The blaze quickly reached three alarms, but was mostly knocked down as of 12:35 a.m. Five children and 12 adults were reportedly displaced. Companies from Irvington, Union, Montclair, Maplewood, Newark and East Orange responded.
