Poonam Ribadia, a Bergen County native, has been wowing foodies on Instagram. Now everyone will soon get to see what she brings to the kitchen. Ribadia is one of the contestants on the new Hulu cooking competition show "Secret Chef" which premieres on Thursday, June 29. On "Secret Chef," 10 contestants are isolated in a secret kitchen. Guided by a mischievous talking hat, the chefs are tasked to perform a series of cooking challenges. The contestants also serve as judges, rating each other's dishes in blind taste tests. Curry Up Now: Indian Restaurant Franchise Opening North Jersey Storefronts
Curry Up Now is coming to New Jersey. The restaurant franchise based on Indian street food concepts is opening new stores in Hoboken and Newark, along with three other unspecified locations on the horizon as well. The new Hoboken store will open its doors at 91 Washington St., Tuesday, Feb. 25. Couple Opens Westfield Mediterranean Restaurant
The married owners of an Indian restaurant in Westfield are opening a Mediterranean eatery right down the street. Kanika Bakshi and Simran Bakshi are opening La'Vash on Quimby Street, where their other restaurant Spice Bazaar was before it moved to Elm Street. The restaurant will open at the end of October. Curry Restaurant Chain Coming To Hoboken, Newark
Curry Up Now, a fast-casual restaurant serving up the spicy south Indian staple with unique fusion-cuisine twists, is opening its newest New Jersey location in Hoboken before the end of the year, and there’s plans for a Newark location to open not long after that, spokespeople for the chain said in a statement. Spice Bazaar, the popular Westfield Indian restaurant, will open at its new location June 10 -- with a twist. Guests at the new site, at 39 Elm St., will see the eatery’s chefs prepare dishes tableside for what owners Simran Bakshi and Kanika Vij-Bakshi will be an “interactive” experience.
