Jackknifed Tractor Trailer Snarls Traffic On Route 78
Multiple lanes were closed following a fuel spill and a jackknifed tractor trailer on Route 78 in Hunterdon County Friday, Jan. 19. It happened in the eastbound lanes, east of Exit 12 in Union Township by Perryville Rd., the New Jersey Department of Transportation said. Two left lanes of three lanes are closed, NJ DOT said. Jackknifed Trailer Shuts Route 280
A jackknifed tractor-trailer shut a portion of Route 280 Saturday morning, Aug. 5 in Essex County. The incident occurred around 7:10 a.m., closing a portion of the highway in both directions at Exit 12. A fuel spill was also reported by the NJDOT.

Banana Load Shifts, Tractor-Trailer Tips Exiting Route 80
A tractor-trailer driver was hospitalized after his rig tipped coming off Route 80 with a load of bananas, responders said. The driver climbed out of his cab after the rig landed on its side at the Green Street exit off the westbound highway in Hackensack shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered serious. Hackensack firefighters cleaned up a minor fuel spill. New Jersey State Police responded and are investigating the cause.

Firefighters Free Severely Injured Driver In NJ Turnpike Pileup
Firefighters extricated the driver of a Lincoln SUV following a chain-reaction crash involving a tractor-trailer on the northbound New Jersey Turnpike in Bergen County. A trucker was badly burned when his tanker burst into flames after it was struck by another vehicle Friday night at a gas station off Route 1&9 in Elizabeth, responders said. A car carrier and a dump truck both toppled over on Route 287 in Oakland around noontime Friday, closing several lanes and causing major delays well into the afternoon. Five heavy-duty wreckers were called to clear the roadway after the northbound rig hauling SUVs tipped over the divider. The carrier split in two, with one section landing on its side against the divider, dumping one of the SUVs on the other side of the median. Septic Tank Truck Tips On Route 80 Exit
A driver emerged without serious injury after an empty septic tanker tipped over Friday on a Route 80 exit ramp in Paterson. A hazardous materials unit was summoned for a large fuel spill after the 9:30 a.m. mishap at Exit 60 on the highway's eastbound side. Route 80 was backed up Friday morning after a tractor trailer overturned spilling fuel across the highway. All lanes were closed near Exit 34 - NJ 15 as of 10:30 a.m., according to 511nj.org. SUVs, Sedan Involved In Chain-Reaction Fair Lawn Crash After Driver Has Diabetic Emergency
Two SUVs and a sedan were involved in a chain-reaction crash Friday afternoon in Fair Lawn after one of the drivers apparently had a diabetic episode, police said. Both ALS and BLS units responded to the crash just after 4 p.m. in front of the iHop on westbound Broadway. The extent of injuries wasn't immediately known.
