Services Set For Plainfield Firefighter Marques Hudson Killed In Line of Duty Marques Hudson, the Plainfield firefighter killed on Friday, Jan. 26 battling a house fire, will be laid to rest on Saturday, Feb. 3.  Services were announced by Buckland Funeral Home in Somerset for Hudson, the 32-year-old Piscataway resident and father of three. Viewings will be held on Friday, Feb 2 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Plainfield High School and Saturday, Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the high school, according to his obituary.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. at the high school, his obituary reads. The fire was on the second floor inside a motel room and started at 10:15 p.m., police said. Occupants were safely evacuated from their room and no injuries were reported, police said. The fire was contained to the motel room and the fire was declared under control after 30 minutes, police said.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation, police said. Firefighters Lead Six To Safety, 26 Displaced In Newark Blaze A fire that quickly went to two alarms burned through a multifamily home in Newark Saturday night, officials said.  The blaze started around 9:50 p.m. at 168 Sherman Ave. Most of the residents managed to escape the three-story building on their own, but firefighters found six people in the basement and led them to safety.  The Red Cross said it was assisting 24 people from seven families.
