A 46-year-old fisherman suffering a medical emergency was rescued off the Jersey Shore by members of the US Coast Guard from Barnegat and Atlantic City, authorities said. The rescue involved the fishing vessel "Captain John" about 45 miles east of Point Pleasant. Members of the US Coast Guard rescued three boaters after their vessel began taking on water three miles east of Long Branch on Sunday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received the initial notification from the Monmouth County 911 dispatcher at 9:15 a.m., saying people on a sinking vessel needed help, the agency said in a statement. Coast Guard Helicopter Crew Rescues Fishermen From Burning Boat Off Jersey Shore
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two fishermen after their boat caught fire approximately 34 miles off the Jersey Shore Thursday (click here for video). The body of an 18-year-old man who gave his life to save two swimmers was found on an Atlantic City beach, nearly 24 hours after a search for him was launched. Jalan Alston went into the ocean off Ventnor Friday night to rescue two women caught in rough waters brought by Tropical Storm Fay, the U.S. Coast Guard and Ventnor police said.
