Man Who Gave Bogus Papers In Car Trade Nabbed After NJ Police Pursuit, Authorities Say A Bayonne man who provided bogus papers in a car trade was apprehended after a police pursuit, authorities said. Raymond Piel Jr., 23, was charged with eluding and theft by deception, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor. Tractor Trailer Driver Dies In Fiery Crash On I-78 A tractor trailer driver died in a fiery crash on Interstate 78 in Somerset County late Wednesday night, authorities said. The multi-vehicle crash involved two tractor trailers and occurred on the eastbound side at milepost 29.4 in Bedminster Township, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Alejandro Goez said. The driver's identity was not immediately released and further details were not available. The right lane remains closed for the accident investigation.

AlTerek Patterson, a sergeant in the patrol division, "always had a smile on his face and touched the lives of so many residents at their time of need," the department said on Facebook. Patterson was the second member of New Jersey law enforcement to die of COVID-19 on Easter Sunday, the first 34-year-old Francesco Scorpo, of the Paterson Police Department.
