Update: Dogs Die In New Milford House Fire Two dogs were killed in a New Milford house fire early Tuesday night, authorities said. The residents weren't home when the blaze broke out in the kitchen at the back of the Voorhis Avenue home and quickly spread shortly after 7 p.m., New Milford Police Chief Brian Clancy said. Borough firefighters were immediately joined by their colleagues from Oradell and River Edge, with New Milford Fire Chief Gerry Smithson operating as the scene commander, the chief said. One Dead, One Injured In Union Township 2-Alarm Fire: FD A woman was killed in a two-alarm house fire in Union Township on Wednesday, Feb. 14, authorities said. At 5:29 p.m., firefighters responded to 1120 Weber St. for a house fire, Union Township Fire Chief Greg Ricciardi said. While responding, firefighters were alerted to an elderly woman trapped inside the residence, Ricciardi said. Another occupant managed to escape and was on the front lawn, Ricciardi said. Blind East Orange Man Dies In House Fire, Others Displaced A 53-year-old man died in a fire at his East Orange home Tuesday, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.  The blaze started around 4 p.m. at the Wayne Avenue residence, claiming the life of David Swiney.
