Duo Accused Of Kidnapping, Assaulting Teen In Elizabeth Caught In N.C.

Two Rahway residents were arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in North Carolina, where authorities say the pair fled after kidnapping a 15-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her inside a van while it was parked in Elizabeth, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday.

Stephanie Charles, 27, has been charged with kidnapping and multiple counts of sexual assault, including counts related to serving as an accomplice. Charles Baker, 36, also faces assault and kidnapping charges as well as a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

The teen was attacked March 16. Baker and Charles were immediately identified as suspects, the prosecutor's office said.

The two will likely be extradited to New Jersey this week.
