A photographer, McNamara dedicated his time to the Brunswick Community Garden in Jersey City.
"He was an amazing photographer, a great organizer of so many events that brought us all together, a father, a husband, and much more," Beth Achenbach, a Jersey City artist said on Facebook.
"I'm glad to have known him."
He is survived by his wife Alison and his daughter, Scarlett. The fundraiser will go toward Scarlett's future education and supporting Alison during this time. As of Friday, Feb. 23, almost $7,000 has been raised.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. at Michalski Funeral Home in Jersey City. To view the fundraiser, click here.
