Box Truck Being Towed Tips Beneath Route 80 Overpass
A box truck tipped while being towed beneath a Route 80 overpass in Elmwood Park, jamming area traffic early Friday afternoon. Another tow was needed to straighten and remove the truck owned by Salerno's Custom Cabinetry in Saddle Brook from the corner of River Road and Market Street shortly after 1 p.m. No injuries were reported. Firefighters Douse Multi-Family Ridgefield Park Blaze
Firefighters doused a house blaze Sunday night in Ridgefield Park. The two-alarm fire broke out in the basement apartment of the multi-family 4th Street home just off Central Avenue shortly after 10:30 p.m. May 7. Damaging House Blaze Doused In Teaneck
Firefighters quickly doused a destructive house blaze Wednesday afternoon in Teaneck. The fire in the two-story wood-frame house on Lucy Avenue near Lindbergh Avenue broke out around 3 p.m., responders said. It quickly went to three alarms for coverage, they said. Firefighters had the blaze doused in under a half-hour. No injuries were reported, although the fire did cause significant damage, rendering it at least temporarily uninhabitable, responders said. Driver Climbs Out After Rollover Crash In Wayne
No serious injuries were reported in a rollover crash on New Year's Eve in Wayne. The 2020 Honda Accord apparently struck a decorative boulder on the side of Garside Avenue near Langdale Road and rolled shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wayne firefighters responded and the driver got out OK. A heavy Passaic house fire was doused in well under an hour. The three-alarm blaze apparently began in a second-floor bedroom and extended to the third floor of the Harrison Street home off Lexington Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. A family's cat died in a smoky basement fire in Lyndhurst, responders at the scene said. Four houses were ravaged by one of two Paterson fires that broke out within hours of one another, responders at the scenes said. Worse was the second blaze, on Marshall Street just off Slater Street, around 4 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1. Firefighters arrived as flames jumped to the second house. A crash with a Porsche sent an SUV into a utility pole at a busy Lodi intersection. Both the Nissan Rogue and the Cabriolet convertible were severely damaged in the crash outside the BP station at Essex Street and Riverview Avenue just off westbound Route 80 around midnight Saturday. A driver was hospitalized with what responders said were compound leg and ankle fractures after a freakish crash Thursday afternoon in River Edge. Firefighters extricated a victim in a crash Sunday afternoon in River Edge. An SUV landed on its side in a collision with a minivan at the corner of rainy Bogert Road and Voorhis Avenue, a block west of Kinderkamack Road, before 3:30 p.m. River Edge and Oradell firefighters responded, along with borough police.
