Community members and play advocates can vote online for their favorite playground video on facebook.com/letsplay from June 13 to June 24.

Each of the top five vote-getters will receive a $20,000 grant to purchase new playground equipment. Winners will be announced on June 27.

The grant is part of Let’s Play, an initiative by DPS to provide kids and families with the tools, places and inspiration to make active play a daily priority.

Organizations nationwide submitted videos illustrating the importance of play for a chance to win one of the five $20,000 grants.

“Bryant Elementary School –– the place where children prepare to become students and students grow into scholars. What makes Bryant School unique is the partnership of educators, parents and community to cultivate a positive and thriving learning environment,” said Leslie M. Abrew, Principal of Bryant.

A unique aspect of the school's playgroun'd plans is a turfed area that will be housed in an inner courtyard in the school to provide a safe, enclosed, maintenance-free play area. While it contains special sensory equipment, all students will benefit.

The new playground will comply with current playground safety standards and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Donations from families, businesses and fundraisers have raised a significant amount of capital to ensure the project does not burden the Teaneck School District.
