Officers on a motor vehicle stop were approached just before 6 p.m. Saturday by several people reporting the robbery in front of Emilio Barber Shop, Police Chief Robert Carney said.
The robber walked past the victim, turned around, then pulled out a handgun and demanded the money, they told police.
He then fled north on Teaneck Road, turned east on Fairview Avenue and got into a vehicle with partial New York license plates, the witnesses said.
The robber was described as tall, black and wearing black New York Yankees baseball cap, black sleeveless t-shirt, black sneakers and dark-colored ripped jeans.
Anyone who knows the suspect, sees him or has information that could help the investigation is asked to call Teaneck police: (201) 837-2600. Callers can remain anonymous, the chief said.
