Teaneck Man Caught On Video Passing Counterfeit Cash, Police Say

TEANECK, N.J. -- A 21-year-old Teaneck man turned himself in after learning that police wanted him on charges of passing counterfeit money at local businesses.

Zavian Stephon Strader was released on a court summonses charging him with three counts each of forgery, theft by deception and "financial facilitation of criminal activity" following his surrender on Nov. 13, Police Chief Robert A. Carney said.

Detectives identified Strader, of Palisade Avenue, from store surveillance video, Carney said.

He "would make small purchases, allowing him to convert most of his counterfeit bills into genuine currency," the chief said.

A Dec. 16 Municipal Court date was set.
