Tyrone Stephens was among a group of people involved in a large fight yesterday in the area of State Street and Teaneck Road, acting Police Chief Robert Carney said this afternoon.

Detective Gabriel Santiago stopped Stephens and three others near Howland Avenue and found him carrying 18 bags of marijuana, the chief said.

Bail was originally set at $7,500, he said.

Detectives investigating last Tuesday’s street robbery zeroed in on Stephens as one of two suspects after the victim said he recognized him as an Englewood man known as “Tizzy.” (SEE: Police investigate strong-arm robbery report on Teaneck Road).

Stephens, of Rosemont Place, was being held on $250,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with robbery and hindering apprehension.

Police were still searching for a second suspect in last Tuesday’s holdup.
