(PREVIOUS STORY) TEANECK, N.J. -- A 45-year-old nurse was killed in a Thanksgiving afternoon head-on crash in Teaneck, a little over 12 hours after two men in their mid-20s were ejected in another collision a couple of miles away.

Responders found the woman pinned behind the wheel in cardiac arrest after the two-car collision at Queen Anne Road and Degraw Avenue around 3:45 p.m., Larry Robertson of the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps told Daily Voice.

A man and woman in the other car also were injured, though not as seriously, he said.

TVAC members worked with firefighters to free the gravely injured driver while caring for her, Robertson said.

An off-duty EMT from another squad also pulled up and offered assistance, while off-duty TVAC members were recalled to staff two additional ambulances to transport the other injured occupants, he said.

The man was taken to Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck with chest pain, Robertson said.

The female driver -- who eventually died in the emergency room -- and the woman in the other car were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, he said.

The deceased woman lived in Teaneck and worked as a labor and delivery nurse at both Holy Name and HUMC at Pascack Valley in Westwood, friends told Daily Voice.

"People are heartbroken," one said Wednesday morning.

Her Honda Civic apparently was headed south on Queen Anne when it struck the couple's Honda Accord, which was going west on DeGraw, responders said.

Two men were thrown from another car when it hit a telephone pole on Teaneck Road in front of the Popeye's restaurant at 3:15 a.m., Robertson said. Their conditions couldn't be determined Thursday afternoon.

Police were investigating both crashes.

The TVAC responded to 14 other emergencies throughout the day, he said.
