Freddy Guzman, an elevator repairman, was being held on $300,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment.
Karem Guzman, a property manager, was released on a summons charging her with child abuse and neglect.
The Lennox Avenue couple are both 36 years old.
The alleged victim, now 20, went to Teaneck police, who notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit, Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.
SVU detectives interviewed her and she “provided specific details regarding what had occurred” from when she was 12 until she was 16, he said.
While arresting Guzman on Thursday, investigators learned that his wife “was aware of the inappropriate sexual activity that had taken place and failed to act upon that information,” Molinelli said.
She was charged yesterday, he said.
Freddy Guzman has an arraignment scheduled for Wednesday. Karem Guzman is due in court a week later.
