ONLY ON CVP: A suspicious device found in New Milford near a synagogue brought emergency responders from two towns, the Bergen County Bomb Squad and a notification to State Police earlier today.
“We wanted to have everything in place in case it turned out to be serious,” New Milford Police Chief Frank Papapietro told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “Luckily, it was harmless.
“If it wasn’t, the incident would have gone to a whole different level.”
A public works employee found the aluminum pipe, with red caps at both ends, while cutting the grass on a median maintained by the borough at New Bridge Road and Roemer Avenue, across from Congregation Keter Torah in Teaneck, Papapietro said.
New Milford firefighters and Teaneck police assisted, the chief said.
