Andre Akridge, 35, is wanted on probation and child support violations, the sheriff said.

Officers who went to arrest him at a Westerveldt Place residence this morning said they believe the 6-foot-4-inch, 170-pound Akridge fled to another house in the neighborhood before vanishing.

Teaneck police were assisting in the search, which included a K-9 unit from the sheriff’s office.

Akridge has an extensive criminal record stretching back 15 years, including arrests for aggravated assault on a police officer, escape and burglary.

He also owes $15,700 in child support, Saudino said.

“These are crimes directly affecting the children of Bergen County,” he said. “It is our duty to ensure that they are cared for properly.”

Saudino asked that anyone who sees him or knows where he is to call: 201-646-2222

Or go to: Bergen Sheriff’s Tip Line

DO NOT try to hold onto him yourself, the sheriff warned. Leave that to the professionals.
