An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, Pell worked for many years as an advertising executive at J. Walter Thompson in New York City.
"When not cheering on his beloved Boston Celtics, Richard could often be found immersed in a good book or putting pen to paper," information from the funeral home noted.
Pell is survived by his wife, Susan Fischer; children Tina Pell-Doyle and her husband Shannon Doyle, and David Pell; grandchildren Katherine and Jack; step-children David Fischer, and Joanna Fischer and her husband Andrew Provost and their children Sophia and Nate; and his first wife Laurel Pell.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 30, at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Rd., in Teaneck. A service will begin at noon. Interment will follow, at Maimonides Cemetery in Floral Park.
