Teaneck Teen Struggles To Help Family After Dad's Death

TEANECK, N.J. — Memories define the Bose family of Teaneck, which lost their patriach, Samir, when he died last month.

His daughter, Emma, is hoping to relieve some of the famly's pressure with an online fundraiser for hers and her sister's college education.

Emma's mother, Liz, works long hours and barely has any free time. Emma and her sister Lillia's college fund was emptied while paying for their father's treatment, leading to the fundraiser.

"It's amazing to see how people can come together to support each other during such a difficult time," Emma, a high school senior, told Daily Voice after her GoFundMe page quickly got $400.

Samir Bose was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2012.

"It's definitely been a struggle, but the hard times prepared me for my father's death," Emma said, "although you can't really be prepared for that.

"Alzheimer's is such a horrible disease, and with it becoming more and more prominent in the older generation I would love to eventually make a fundraiser for Alzheimer's awareness."
