Teaneck Creek Conservancy Celebrates Native American Heritage

TEANECK, N.J. — The Teaneck Creek Conservancy will be celebrating Native American Heritage Month in partnership with the Puffin Cultural forum and the Ramapough Conservancy.

The event features a screening of award-winning film, "American Native." 

The Film tells the story of the struggles of the Ramapough Lenape Nation, indigenous people only 30 miles from New York City.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 3 p.m. Lunaape Language Class with Karen Mosko
  • 4 p.m. Exhibition Opening - "Native" with artwork by Jack Crying Raven and oher participating artists
  • 4:30 p.m. "American Native" Screening followed by panel discussion with Judith Sullivan, Founder of the Ramapough Conservancy and Jan Barry, investigative journalist and Rampo College professor.
  • FREE EVENT: Funding provided by a history grant from the Bergen County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.
