Funeral Service For Beloved Teaneck Music Teacher Set For November

TEANECK, N.J. -- Edward Thompson, a music teacher at Whittier School in Teaneck, died Saturday, Oct. 22 after a long illness. He was 62.

Thompson was born June 12, 1954 in Englewood and lived in Wayne for over 30 years before moving to Glen Ridge. He is William Paterson College graduate.

Along with his parents and his sister, he was a founding member of Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, dating from 1965, and served as its music director. 

He was also a founding member of the church's folk group, was a singer and played acoustic guitar.

He taught in Teaneck for 24 years.

He is survived by his mother, Emma (Gordon) Thompson. 

He was predeceased by his sister, Cheryl Anne Thompson in 2008 and his father Edward Lewis Thompson in 2004.

A Memorial Mass for Thompson will held be at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 1799 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne, on Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. with repast immediately following at the OLC Ministry Center (located at the same address in the lower parking lot).
