"Rotary Means Business" started as one of President Tamarha Ellerbe's initiatives during her 2015-16 tenure.
The networking event gets Rotarians and invited non-Rotarians together to hear a speaker, and do their 60-second elevator speech. They mingle, break bread and have fellowship.
“We have a steady following, and people have started to look forward to it,” said Ellerbe. “There is already an amazing mix of business professionals already on board, ranging from admin to CEOs and beyond.”
FDU Head Basketball Coach Greg Herenda gave a presentation on being “All In" at the most recent event held on Oct. 19 event.
"Rotary Means Business" has helped Teaneck Rotary Club become popular among younger professionals, and has brought in new members interested in joining, Ellerbe said.
“We have room to grow the membership of our club. This networking event is twofold: it helps us support our business people; and gives non-Rotarians an opportunity to hear and attend our functions and appreciate the work our Rotary does across the board daily,” said Ellerbe. “The networking event has really taken on a life of its own. We’re expecting more guests and Rotarians to attend each time.”
