Her line of jewelry, newly launched as of November, is all about keeping the art of traditional jewelry making alive while providing accessories that make a statement and represent a piece of one’s personality.
"I want to be known for making indian tribal jewelry wearable and relatable while promoting traditional artistry," she said. A native of Englewood Cliffs -- she went to Dwight Englewood and then to college at The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City -- is selling her AARYAH line online only at the moment but hopes to be in stores next year. Currently, she works out of her office in New York City.
AARYAH comes from the Sanskrit word aaryah which translates to precious and rare. This word inspired the birth of the brand which is geared towards women who are "fearless and never conventional with her style," she said.
Kothari, who comes from an Indian family of jewelers dating back to the mid 1900’s, said her style fuses her Indian roots with her Western upbringing. After working for two years at L’Oreal USA, she decided it was time to pursue her passion in jewelry.
Each piece is made by skilled Indian artisans ensuring every aspect is crafted to perfection. Kothari said she works a lot with plated brass to keep the jewelry affordable.
Selling well already: her RAYKAH choker which Kothari said is "super wearable and can be layered with your favorite necklaces."
