Newly released footage from the Pequannock Police Department shows the “truly amazing rescue” of a driver and passenger after their car plunged into a local pond, leaving the pair neck-deep in frozen waters. The rescue occurred at the retention pond at Cedar Crest Village on the evening of Sunday, April 2. Officers responded and found a vehicle submerged almost completely in the water. Crews were quick to rescue a trapped driver Sunday afternoon following a two-car crash on Route 22. The Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Company responded to the reported crash with injuries in the eastbound lanes near milepost 327.4 in Hanover Township and found the trapped driver around 1 p.m., the squad said. Emergency crews removed the roof of the vehicle — which appears to be a Mustang — with help from the Catasauqua Fire Department and extricated the victim within about 15 minutes upon arrival. A driver was hospitalized with serious injuries following a crash Monday in Fair Lawn that forced firefighters to cut a steel fence to free her. No other injuries were reported in the two-vehicle crash on Morlot Avenue at Philip Street. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted members of the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Squad. A driver was rescued from a vehicle that was teetering over the edge of a barrier wall in Morris County Tuesday morning, authorities said. The Mount Tabor Volunteer Fire Department responded to the Morris County composting facility on W. Hanover Avenue just before 11:30 and found that the driver, though uninjured, was still inside, authorities said. “We did not want to remove the victim until the vehicle was stabilized for fear of the weight shifting,” the department said. A motorist was rescued by a family of good Samaritans and Nutley police after he drove his SUV into the Passaic River as high tide rolled in. The rescuers jumped in and got the driver out after the vehicle plunged down the boat ramp north of the Kingsland Avenue Bridge, which connects Nutley and Lyndhurst, shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, responders said. The SUV then became submerged in 10 feet of water about 100 feet or so from shore, they said. A minivan driver was airlifted after colliding with another vehicle on Route 78 in Hunterdon County Sunday afternoon, state police said. The crash — involving a Hyundai Elantra and Dodge Grand Caravan — occurred on Rt. 78 westbound near milepost 22.8 in Clinton Township just after 1:45 p.m., NJSP Trooper Alejandro Goez told Daily Voice. The moment officers rescued a man trapped in his vehicle after a rollover accident in Hopatcong was captured in an action-packed video.
