An electrical fire was doused at the Coach House diner on Route 4 in Hackensack as responders handled a rapid-fire cluster of calls. A smoking outlet at the popular diner off Hackensack Avenue brought city firefighters around 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, responders at the scene said. The scene was cleared about 90 minutes later. 3 Hurt, Lab Rescued During Serious Back-To-Back Crashes In Hunterdon County
Three people were taken to trauma centers and a yellow lab was rescued during back-to-back crashes in Hunterdon County on Sunday, June 4, responders said. The Tewksbury First Aid and Rescue Squad responded to the first crash around 10:10 a.m. and found that the driver had slammed into a utility pole on Route 517 north of King Street in Oldwick. The driver was treated at the scene and taken to a nearby trauma center while the passenger — a yellow lab — was cared for at the scene and picked up later by family, the squad said. A 62-year-old electric bicycle rider from Teaneck suffered what appeared to be broken bones when he was struck by an SUV driven by a 69-year-old township woman, authorities said. Woman Ticketed After Being Run Over By Her Own Vehicle In NJ
As if being run over by her own car wasn't punishment enough, the 61-year-old driver was then ticketed for having an unregistered vehicle, authorities in New Jersey said. A pedestrian was struck by a car in Morristown, developing reports say. The victim was hit near South and Pine streets shortly before 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, according to initial and unconfirmed reports. An advanced life support ambulance responded to rush the victim to a nearby hospital, the report says. The Major Crimes unit was also called to the accident scene. Speed Bump Kills North Jersey Sanitation Worker Riding On Truck, Police Say
A 74-year-old sanitation worker died after the truck he was riding on hit a speed bump and he fell off earlier this month in Scotch Plains, police announced. Ismael Oliva was riding on the rear platform of the truck when he fell off and hit is head on the 300 block of Henry Street around 9:30 a.m. Sept. 2, local police said. Good Samaritans had rushed outside to help the Plainfield sanitation worker when paramedics arrive. Oliva was rushed to Overlook Medical Center in Summit, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The crash remains under investigation.

Glen Rock police revived a driver who’d overdosed behind the wheel and crashed, damaging a resident’s lawn, in the middle of the afternoon. Officers responding to a 911 call of an unconscious driver forced their way into the locked 2016 Mercedes SUV on Midwood Road, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. A Sussex County group home resident who last month attacked a school bus carrying children crashed the home's van into a neighbor's property last week causing damage, police said. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Nov. 22, on Meadows Road in Lafayette, New Jersey State Police said. A 76-year-old West Milford woman who was struck by a sedan in Oakland early Friday night died shortly after arriving at the hospital, authorities said.
