Woman Fatally Struck By Tractor-Trailer, Car Crossing Somerset County Street A woman was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer and then hit by another car while crossing a street in Somerset County, authorities said. The unidentified woman was walking southbound in a designated crosswalk on Union Avenue at the Finderne Avenue intersection when she was struck by a tractor-trailer around 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to a joint statement from Bridgewater police and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. Retired Police Officer Helps Nab Bridgewater Bank Robber: Prosecutor A Bridgewater man was arrested last week after authorities said he tried to rob one bank and then hit a second bank just a few hours later.  Douglas Conroy, 60, entered Provident bank on Union Avenue in Bridgewater shortly before noon Dec. 23, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said. Conroy approached a teller and demanded she fill a plastic bag with cash, according to the prosecutor's office.
