The familiar quiet of a suburban Bergen County neighborhood was broken by the screams of a resident whose new luxury SUV had just been stolen with her dog still inside. The 42-year-old victim told Englewood Cliffs police that she'd left her dog in the 2022 BMW X7 for a moment when a thief got in and sped from outside her and her husband's home on Castle Drive shortly before 1:30 p.m. July 4th. Dumont Firefighters Douse Overnight Blaze
Firefighters overcame cluttered conditions to douse an overnight house blaze in Dumont, responders said. The Richard Drive family and their pets weren't home when the fire broke out in a second-floor rear bedroom before dawn Friday, March 11, they said. Firefighters knocked it down within 20 minutes. No injuries were reported. Fire officials were investigating. Responders commonly refer to hoarding-hampered fires as "Collyers mansion syndrome" after two wealthy Harlem brothers who died in a 1947 fire amid stacks of newspapers, books, tin cans and rotting trash.

The Phillipsburg Animal Facility has been evacuated and shut down until further notice as a result of the heavy floodwaters that swept through the area Monday. Julie Miller, 32 and Elizabeth Doty, 21 were assigned to the grooming area of a PetSmart in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood when A.J. Dog Attacked By Rabies-Positive Raccoon In Sussex County
Police in Sussex County have issued a warning to pet owners after a dog was attacked by a rabies-positive raccoon. The dog was attacked on Reading Road in Hopatcong April 21, and the raccoon tested positive for the virus April 29, the local police department said on Facebook. Animals with rabies often appear sick or lethargic, may have difficulty swallowing and salivate excessively, police said. UPDATE: One dog died while another survived a weekend fire that severely damaged an Englewood home, authorities said. Authorities were trying to determine the cause of Saturday’s morning’s three-alarm West Demarest Avenue blaze, which did most of its damage to the kitchen and first floor of the 2½ -story home, City Fire Chief Erik S.
