Massive Multi-Car Fire Under Investigation In Sussex County (Photos) Officials in Sussex County are investigating the cause of a massive fire that ripped through several vehicles in a local parking lot over the weekend. The Hardyston Township Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to the blaze in the employee parking lot at 3 Wild Turkey Way just after 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, the squad said. Upon arrival, crews found several vehicles fully engulfed in flames and immediately began extinguishing efforts. The fire was reported at 160 Mountain Rd. in Hardyston around 4:40 p.m., the local volunteer fire department said. Authorities Investigating Sussex County Fire The cause of a two-alarm fire at a vacant home early Saturday morning in Sussex County remained under investigation hours later. Flames shot out of a vacant two-story home behind Ballyowen Golf Club on Wheatsworth Road just after 4:40 a.m. The fire rose to two alarms, bringing firefighters from Franklin, McAfee Pochuck Valley and Hamburg to the scene.  The blaze was under control by 6:40 a.m., fire officials said. Glenwood Pochuck Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Saint Clare’s Emergency Medical Services also responded.

Flames were shooting out of a barn behind 215 North Church Road when firefighters arrived around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The fire quickly climbed to a second alarm as Hardyston companies battled with assistance from Mcafee, Lafayette, Ogdensburg, Franklin, Hamburg, Vernon, Pochuck Valley, Sussex and West Milford. Firefighters stayed at the scene digging up hay until around 1 a.m., to make sure the blaze wouldn't reignite. Glenwood Pochuck EMS and St. Clares EMS also responded, although no injuries were reported.

Flames were shooting out the front door of the Sugar Maple Lane home (in Crystal Springs) when firefighters arrived around 8:40 p.m. The townhouse was damaged as a result of the fire. Details were not immediately available as of Sunday morning. Companies from Hamburg, Franklin, Ogdensburg, Vernon, Mcafee, Pochuck Valley, Sparta, Sussex and Montague also responded.
