Retired Hardyston Police Chief Bret Alemy Dies During L.E.A.D Retreat In Florida Bret Alemy, an Air Force veteran who later served as police chief in Hardyston, died on Thursday, Jan. 4, while attending a retreat in Orlando. He was 50 years old. Massive Multi-Car Fire Under Investigation In Sussex County (Photos) Officials in Sussex County are investigating the cause of a massive fire that ripped through several vehicles in a local parking lot over the weekend. The Hardyston Township Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to the blaze in the employee parking lot at 3 Wild Turkey Way just after 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, the squad said. Upon arrival, crews found several vehicles fully engulfed in flames and immediately began extinguishing efforts. Crews Douse 2-Alarm Blaze In Sussex County (Photos) Fire crews made quick work of a blaze that broke out in the basement of a Sussex County home Thursday evening. The fire was reported at 160 Mountain Rd. in Hardyston around 4:40 p.m., the local volunteer fire department said. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy smoke and determined that an electrical fire was coming from the basement. Police Seek Security Cam Footage Of Suspicious Person In Sussex County Driveways Police in Sussex County are seeking surveillance footage of a suspicious person that has been seen in several different driveways. The Hardyston Police Department received several reports of a suspicious person traveling from driveway to driveway in the area of Big Spring Road. Area residents are asked to check security camera footage and send any suspicious activity to Det. Norman at the Hardyston Twp. Police Department at anorman@hardyston.com. “As always residents are reminded to lock their vehicle doors,” the department said.

The blaze was reported at 197 Hamburg Tpk. in Stockholm just before 9:30 p.m., the Hardyston Township Volunteer Fire Department said on Facebook. Crew members battled the blaze for more than an hour after ensuring that all occupants had safely exited the home, authorities said. Flames and plumes of smoke could be seen from the windows of Tony's Pizza Restaurant and Pub on the southbound side of Route 23 in Stockholm, as firefighters arrived around 12:30 p.m. Monday. Kinnelon Motorcyclist, 47, Dies In Sussex County Crash A 47-year-old motorcyclist from Kinnelon died in a head-on Sussex County crash with a pick-up, authorities said. Christopher Evans was heading northbound on County Route 515 when his 1972 Triumph motorcycle crossed over the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic last Tuesday, June 30, Hardyston Lt. Robert Zicarelli told the NJHerald. Evans collided head-on with a 2009 Dodge Ram, operated by a 36-year-old Wharton man, Zicarelli said. Evans was pronounced dead at the scene. Evans, a Michigan native, was being remembered as loving and devoted dad to his son, Tyler. The highway was no…
