North Jersey residents are feeling the impact of this week's storm with thousands still without power and schools closed or delayed. In Bergen County, houses were hit on East Midland Avenue in Paramus and on Sunset Avenue in Englewood. A Mahwah police officer also escaped serious injury when a falling tree struck his cruiser. A Newton ex-con is heading back to prison — this time, for the deadly stabbing of a 38-year-old woman in Hunterdon County, authorities announced Wednesday, August 23. Brandon E. Petersen, 33, was sentenced Tuesday, August 22 to an aggregate 60-year state prison term subject to the No Early Release Act, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson said. Rescue crews were quick to help a horse back onto its feet after it had fallen at a Hunterdon County farm during the afternoon on Wednesday, Sept. 14. The Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad and Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company responded to Good Manners Farm in Delaware Township with a variety of heavy rigging equipment, including a grip hoist, come-along, and Paratech aluminum wale. Two people were taken to nearby hospitals following a Friday morning rollover crash in Hunterdon County, authorities said. The crash occurred at the intersection of Routes 579 and 523 in Delaware Township around 6:40 a.m., according to the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad. One victim was taken to Capital Health in Trenton while a second was taken to Hunterdon Medical Center, the rescue squad said. The scene was cleared within about an hour, authorities said. A dump truck driver was hospitalized after the vehicle overturned in Hunterdon County, authorities said. The vehicle overturned at the intersection of County Route 579 and Route 523 near the border of Delaware and Raritan Townships the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 9, according to the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad. State Police: PA Drowning Victim, 33, Pulled From Delaware River In Hunterdon County
A PA drowning victim was pulled from the Delaware River in Hunterdon County Tuesday evening, state police said. Jorge Herrera-Salmoran, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene after being pulled from the water near the Bull’s Island Recreation Area (2185 Daniel Bray Highway) in Delaware Township shortly before 5:30 p.m., NJSP Trooper Alejandro Goez told Daily Voice. Herrera-Salmoran, of Doylestown, PA, had entered the water to go swimming but was pulled under by the current of the river, Goez said. The investigation is ongoing, Goez said. Additional details were not released.
