One Left With Burns After Jefferson Boat Blaze: State Police A boat blaze in Jefferson left one person with burns on Sunday, July 23, state police said. Troopers responded to the fire at a dock on New Jersey Avenue in Jefferson around 4:40 p.m., NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry told Daily Voice. The Jefferson Fire Department was at the scene as troopers arrived, and the blaze was “mostly out,” Curry said. One person suffered burns and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 2 responded to the blaze in the Great Cove area of Lake Hopatcong on Wednesday, June 29. Upon arrival, the chief confirmed a working fire with the potential for exposure issues, the department said. 1 Airlifted In Wildwood Boat Fire One person was airlifted in serious condition in a Wildwood boat fire Saturday. Arriving firefighters were flagged down to help a burn victim who was brought to a nearby business as flames ravaged the 40-foot pleasure vessel docked in the 400 block of Dock Street around 10:30 a.m., fire officials said. Wildwood Crest EMS and AtlantiCare Paramedics treated and transported the victim to the Cape May County Armory in Cape May Court House, where the patient was transferred to a Medevac helicopter and airlifted to Jefferson University Hospital Burn Center in Philadelphia.
