Kitch graduated from  Wallkill Valley Regional High School Class of 1996 and maintained close friendships with many of his classmates throughout the years, his obituary says.

He was described as a “well-known, hardworking, and gifted contractor” who “would share his time and talent with everyone he knew.”

Meanwhile, Kitch loved testing his culinary skills and made a particularly special pasta salad. He was also well-known for donning Hawaiian shirts and flip-flops.

He had an incredibly generous soul and “would give you the shirt off his back,” his memorial says.

Above all, Kitch was a caring and compassionate father and friend who loved to make others smile and laugh.

“Kitch will be forever remembered as that caring, generous, and handsome guy who never failed to bring a smile to your face with his great sense of humor,” his obituary says.

Kitch is survived by his loving wife, Christina DiMatteo Ziegler; his two daughters, Alexandra Rose, 17, and Addyson Rayne, 12; his father, Roger Ziegler; his sister, Kirstin Sabo and her husband Bill; his brother, Keven Ziegler and his wife Amy; and many more.

Tributes and condolences immediately hit social media following Kitch’s tragic passing:

A local Italian restaurant Kitch had regularly visited even shared a touching tribute:

“Certain customers turn into family, and it’s heartbroken to say one of our 'family' members have passed on,” Pomodoro Italiano writes.

“Kitch and his wife Christina have been with us since day 1, through the tough times of covid, change of ownership, late nights hanging with the staff, till now. Us and the entire staff are grieving the loss of Kitch. He has made such an impact on past and current employees.”

Kitch’s memorial was held Saturday, June 24 at Pinkel Funeral Home in Sussex.

Donations can be made in Kitch’s loving memory to the SCARC Foundation, an organization Kitch supported (11 Route 206, Suite 100, Augusta, NJ 07822).
