Storm Leaves Icy Conditions In Passaic, Bergen Counties

A wintery mix of snow and ice that started Monday in Passaic and Bergen counties left roads slippery Tuesday morning.

The forecast calls for a high around 56 degrees in the area Tuesday. Rain wasn't due until 11 a.m. but had begun in some areas in North Jersey by 9:40 a.m.

Several schools were closed for winter break. Those with delayed openings included:

Bloomingdale - 90-minute delayed opening

Bogart Memorial School, Bogota- Opens at 10 a.m.

Haledon - Delayed opening

Hawthorne Christian Academy- Opens at 10 a.m.

Little Falls- One-hour delayed opening

Ramapo College, Mahwah- Opens at 11 a.m.

Totowa- One-hour delayed opening

Wayne- Delayed opening

Washington Township- Two-hour delayed opening

West Milford- 90-minute delayed opening

William Paterson University, Wayne- Opens at 11 a.m.

TRAFFIC INCIDENTS

Delays on Route 17 southbound at Route 4 in Paramus due to volume. — via 511NY.Also in Paramus, icy condition closed both Oradell Avenue (between Pascack Road and Forest Avenue) and Midland Avenue (between Burnet Place and Farview Avenue), police said.

Route 4 eastbound at Jones Road in Englewood, accident and debris spill causes 10 to 15 minute delays. via 511NY.

Disabled bus at Hackensack Bus Terminal due to equipment problems. — via 511NY. 

Delays on Route 3 eastbound in Clifton due to volume, via 511NY.

West Milford's Union Valley Road closed between Camden Place and Monmouth Avenue with a telephone pole down. via West Milford police.
