The Mustangs went 10-0, leading to a division title. To top it off, they won the Good Sportsmanship Award from the Big North Conference.

John Pontes said the way his athletes work together helped them prosper in 2015.

"They don't just work together in practice, but they race together and they're a very unselfish group of young ladies," Pontes, who's coached the team for 32 years, told Daily Voice.

"Our girls know that everybody runs the same course, makes the same sacrifices out there, endures the same weather," he added. "It's a pleasure to work with them."

Several seniors set outstanding examples, Pontes said:• Megan Davey did a "tremendous job";• Allison Proszowski made the transition well from spring track to cross-country;• Deena Khandakar always works hard;• Hannah Anolik is never satisfied and pushes herself to be better each time out.
