Hawthorne Senior Honored By NJ Athletic Association

HAWTHORNE, N.J. — A top athlete from Hawthorne High School was recognized by the State of New Jersey at a luncheon on Sunday, Feb. 7

Senior Cielle Tousignant was acknowledged by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association as the school’s 29th recipient of the National Girls and Women in Sports Award at a statewide luncheon at Seton Hall University.

She was recognized for her performance in both volleyball and softball.

The NJSIAA is an association of 433 accredited public, private and non-public high schools in the state that regulates athletics and holds tournaments and crowns champions in high school sports.

The voluntary, non-profit organization, with the other 49 State Associations constitute the National Federation of State High School Associations, which has represented high school athletics since 1920, and today represents 22,000 schools, more than 330,000 coaches, and almost 4.5 million high school athletes.
