William Paterson University In Wayne Kicks Off Pioneer Pride Week

WAYNE, N.J. -- William Paterson University has scheduled a series of events for its homecoming week and Pioneer Pride Week. The following events will take place Saturday, Oct. 10, Homecoming Day:

At 1 p.m. WPU football takes on Frostburg State University at Wightman Stadium. Giveaways during the game courtesy of the Pioneer Pride Committee.

A pioneer midway takes place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., lot 5. There will be game booths, prizes, a photo booth, cheesesteaks, funnel cakes, caricaturist, ziplining, a rock wall and more. "Touch a Truck," sponsored by the Haledon Fire Department will be there, along with discount coupons for the WP bookstore. the first 400 people to sign in at the pioneer midway and tailgating get a William Paterson t-shirt. Sponsored by the WP Alumni Association.

Tailgating runs from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., lot 5. Check out the tailgating guidelines here. The first 400 people to sign in at tailgating and the pioneer midway get a WP t-shirt. Sponsored by WP Young Alumni Chapter.

A blood drive is scheduled from 12 to 5 p.m. in ballrooms B and C, sponsored by the Pioneer Pride Committee, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and the Greek Senate.

Other Pride Week events include:

  • A tennis game against the College of Staten Island takes place Thursday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. at the tennis courts. There will be giveaways during the game courtesy of the Pioneer Pride Committee.
  • A field hockey game against Misericordia University takes place Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at Wightman Stadium. There will be giveaways during the game courtesy of the Pioneer Pride Committee.
  • A Stop Hunger Now Event is planned Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. at the multipurpose room.
  • People are needed to make meals to donate to those in need. This event is sponsored by the Sophomore/Junior Experience and Transfer Student Experience.
