My name is Eileen Albanese and I've been a resident of Wayne for 27 years. I've been married to my husband, Joe, for 36 years and we have three children: Dan, 29, Steven, 24, and Caitlin, 19, all of whom have attended the Wayne School System. I have a degree in accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University and worked in corporate taxation for more than 10 years before staying home to raise my family.

I am currently a trustee of the Wayne Board of Education, where I have served for the past three years and am currently serving as the board of education's president.

I'm running for a trustee position on the board of education once again as I believe education is the key to our children's future. I believe I have shown myself to be a fair-minded, independent leader in the school community, as well as on the Wayne Board of Education and strive to make effective decisions in the best interest of all involved.

With the many rapid changes occurring in the educational community today, maintaining our focus on educational excellence in Wayne is our first and most important priority as board members. We must continue to commit to providing both our students and our staff the resources necessary in order to ensure that we attain and exceed the most rigorous of standards.

At the same time, we must acknowledge the ever-increasing financial burden being placed on the taxpayers of Wayne and we must commit to finding creative and forward-thinking ways to pay for these new initiatives within our working budget.

We must have the courage to make change where needed and to stand strong where we are strongest as a school district. I hope you will once again consider supporting me as a board of education trustee Nov. 3.
