Frederick J. Harrison, 47, of Stroudsburg and Harron Lamar Anderson, 26, and Joseph Anthony Mendez, 19, of East Stroudsburg were charged with drug possession after police pulled over their minivan for drifting between lanes on westbound Route 80 around 10:30 p.m., Capt. Laurence Martin said.

Harrison had an open container of beer in the backseat and tried to pour it out when officers approached, Martin said.

A glass pipe fell to the ground as the driver, Mendez, tried to leave the vehicle, the captain said. He then tried to step on it -- for which he was charged with attempting to destroy evidence, Martin said.

Police found a large bundle of hypodermic needles on Mendez, along with crack rocks, he said.

Anderson also had needles, plus 31 bags of suspected heroin stamped "TUNA," Martin said.

Officers found 187 more bags in the vehicle, he said.

Mendez and Harrison were released on court summonses. Anderson was held on an active warrant from Pennsylvania.
