Michael Aaron Carter, 33, was arrested Feb. 3 after police said he held up Haledon Mart on Haledon Avenue in early January, Lt. George Guzman said on Friday.

Carter was accused of taking money from the store after putting his hand in his jacket pocket to look like a gun and telling the clerk, "I have a gun. Give me all the money or I will shoot you," Guzman said.

Police released surveillance footage of the incident and received an anonymous tip stating that Carter was the suspect in the video, the lieutenant said.

The store clerk ID'd Carter as the one who robbed him and police arrested him at his Paterson home, Guzman said.

Carter was held at Passaic County Jail on $150,000 bail, he said.

Lt. Angelo Daniele thanked the community for providing information that led to the arrest.

"Our police department has a zero tolerance for criminal activity in our borough," Guzman said. "Our residents and businesses have the right to be safe and we diligently remain committed to preserving that right.”
