Paterson Police Arrest Man On Weapons Charges After Anonymous Tip

PATERSON, N.J. -- An 18-year-old man was arrested in Paterson on Friday night on weapons charges, NJ.com reported.

Paterson police arrested Delshawn Wright Friday night on an anonymous tip and charged him with unlawful weapons possession, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of hollow-point bullets, according to the website. 

Police Director Jerry Speziale announced the arrest, which was made after a concerned citizen reported a man carrying a handgun outside a building on Park Avenue. Arriving on the scene, police saw Wright discard the gun under a car, according to NJ.com.

Wright is from Paterson, NJ.com said. A 17-year-old juvenile, also from Paterson, was charged with obstructing a governmental function for allegedly trying to interfere with the arrest.
