CLIFTON, N.J. — Clifton police arrested a city man and said they were seeking the getaway driver in an attempted robbery of the Capital One Bank branch in Botany Village last week.

Francesco Carisi, 32, was being held on $75,000 bail, charged with robbery, following his arrest Sunday afternoon, Clifton Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said.

Carisi is accused of entering the bank on Nov. 10 and passing a note to the teller demanding money.

He reached into his jacket like he had a weapon but was met with some resistance from the bank employee, Bracken said.

So he left empty-handed, the sergeant said.

Police found the getaway car two days later, he said.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to call Clifton PD: (973) 470-5911.
