Leonard Baum Jr., 88, Of North Haledon

NORTH HALEDON, N.J. -- Leonard Baum Jr., 88, of North Haledon, passed away April 18, 2016.

Born in Passaic, he lived in Oakland before moving to North Haledon in 2007.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II and prior to his retirement he was an engineer with the Curtiss-Wright Corporation. 

Baum was a member of the Ebenezer Netherlands Reformed Church in Franklin Lakes and a privileged lifetime member of the Oakland First Aid Squad. 

He was the husband of Teuntje (nee Schaaf) Baum of North Haledon; father of Leonard Baum III and his wife Margaret of Butler and Lydia Companion of Wilmington, Del.; grandfather of Leah Okken, Trina Dob, Sadie Van Grouw, Luis Baum, Megan Companion and Rachel Companion; great-grandfather of Leonard, Elsie, Henry, Charlie, Nellie, Matthew, Sawyer and Margaret; and brother of the late Annette Bandstra. 

The family will receive family and friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at The Holland Christian Home, 151 Graham Ave., North Haledon. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at The Holland Christian Home. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Ebenezer Netherlands Reformed Church, 875 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417.
