Eleanor Jeltes, 83, Of North Haledon

NORTH HALEDON, N.J. -- Eleanor Jeltes, a resident of North Haledon, died Sunday, Feb. 28. She was 83.

She was a member of Midland Park Christian Reformed Church for almost 80 years, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and a Calvinette Counselor and currently attended Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church. She also worked at Prospect Park Bank, was a hostess for Steaks ’n Stuff in Wyckoff and was employed in the craft department of Ben Franklin in Wyckoff.

She is survived by her children, Laurie Jeltes of Virginia Beach, Va., Sue Lindemulder of Bloomingdale and Tim Jeltes of Wyckoff; nine grandchildren, Shawn, Seth, Stephanie, Alyssa, Chelsea, Jeff, Victoria, Ethan and Eric; and five great-grandchildren, Jaelyn, C.J., Kage, Brylee and Aubrey.

She was predeceased by her husband Ralph J. Jeltes; sister, Jewel Stapert; and brother Peter De Vries.

Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Aven., Wyckoff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by the burial in Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood.
