Dr. Bart E. Maggio, 79, Formerly Of Passaic Park

PASSAIC PARK, N.J. — Bart E. Maggio, M.D. of West Long Branch formerly of Passaic Park, died on Saturday, Jan. 16. He was 79.

He attended Georgetown University, Seton Hall University and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to dedicate his life to medicine and general surgery. He established a medical practice, faithfully working for 50 years, also serving as police surgeon for Elmwood Park. A dedicated surgeon, he received the honor of fellow in General Surgery from the American Association of Physician Specialists and served as president of the Association from 1991-92. He was a member of Deal Golf and Country Club and lifelong member of the New York Athletic Club.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly (Fattell) Maggio; his daughters Monique Maggio Koribanics and her husband Michael P. Koribanics; Michele Maggio Agresti and her husband Dr. Robert J. Agresti; Nicole Maggio Knable and her husband Christopher Knable; Simone Maggio Poveromo and her husband Nicholas Poveromo; and nine grandchildren Carly Agresti; Christen Koribanics; Lindsay Agresti; John Bart Koribanics; Stephanie Agresti; Nathaniel Knable; Zoe Knable; Ava Poveromo; and Nicholas Poveromo. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Chapman and her husband David Chapman, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. on Friday at the Alesso Funeral Home, 91 Union St., Lodi, followed by a 10:30 a.m. celebratory mass at Saint Joseph’s RC Church, 40 Spring St., Lodi, N.J. A private burial will follow.
